The name First Crack comes from a defining moment in coffee roasting — the stage when green coffee beans expand and release their true character. This “first crack” marks the beginning of transformation, where the bean develops its unique aromas and flavors.

For us, it represents more than just a roasting milestone. It symbolizes beginnings, discovery, and the craft of unlocking the best in every bean.

Founded in 2017, First Crack Coffee was built on this very spirit — to honor the journey from farm to cup, and to celebrate the moment when coffee truly comes alive. From our first roastery to today, our passion has remained the same: to share specialty coffee with the community, crafted with care and integrity.

Roastery

We proudly roast our own coffee — carefully crafted and supervised by our Master Roaster, from the very first sample to the final batch. Our roasting process is carried out by certified professionals, including SCA Roasters, Q-Graders, and CQI-certified experts, using state-of-the-art Probatone 25 and Probatone 5 machines.

We work exclusively with specialty-grade green beans, ensuring that every roast highlights the unique character of its origin. From sourcing and sorting to roasting, each step is executed with precision and care to maintain the highest quality.

Equipped to handle large-scale production without ever compromising on standards, our roastery delivers consistency, craftsmanship, and passion in every batch — bringing high-grade coffee from Indonesia and beyond to the world.

Our Academy

Established in 2017, First Crack Academy was created as part of our commitment to raising awareness and knowledge about coffee. We believe that education is a key foundation in elevating coffee culture — not only for professionals but also for the wider community. At the Academy, we provide coffee education with international standards, following official modules from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) — the world’s largest and most respected coffee association.

Every class is designed to be both practical and comprehensive, covering the journey of coffee from farm to cup. All of our trainers are Authorized SCA Trainers (AST), fully certified to deliver world-class education and training. This ensures that every student, receives knowledge and skills that meet global standards.

The Coffee Diploma System uses curriculum created by the Specialty Coffee Association to improve coffee standarts. It consists of 6 modules with three levels each; Foundation, Intermediate, and Professional.
